From simple metal castings to complex laser cutting
Our company was founded in 1938 by George Worrall of Barford, a village close to the county town of Warwick. For many years the company provided blacksmithing and agricultural engineering services to the local community and surrounding districts. As the company grew it became necessary to move to larger premises and in 1978 the company relocated to Warwick itself, a move that was followed a few years later by a further move to our present location on the Heathcote Industrial Estate. We now occupy a modern purpose built manufacturing plant from where we provide goods and services throughout central and southern regions of the country.
Initially, our close proximity to the towns of Warwick, Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon created a demand for our products and services. Warwick and Stratford's many historical buildings and Leamington's regency period architecture required products of the highest quality and which were in keeping with the architectural heritage of the district.
From the outset GWE developed close working relationships with architects and constructors and was able to give advice as projects were planned and to offer guidance when difficulties arose as projects unfolded. At the same time our employees had to become proficient in a wide range of skills, they had to be adaptable and had to develop flexible methods of working. This expertise has been maintained over the years and is seen as essential to the future prosperity of our company. Today, we have combined this experience with modern manufacturing processes and management techniques, thus enabling us to offer a first class range of products and services to members of the public, architects, designers and developers.
